Work has begun...cue the Pointer Sisters, please

Yep, "I'm so excited....and I just can't hide it!"

I hired Landscape Rescue Man (not his or his company's name - but what I'll call him here) who is devoted to Green Practices and I have been so impressed. Our yard already looks better than it did and the new sod's not even in yet.

Mom and I talked (briefly, due to the crazy phone lines over here) every couple of hours yesterday since it was the work crew's first day on the job.

Lots of discussion about mulch, bougainvillea trimming, when to touch and when to leave a Crepe Myrtle alone, and how many boxwood plants will make a decent hedge.

There was even talk of fencing and Magnolias! Heaven!

Looking west, before (notice the chinch-bugged lawn)...

And, looking west now,
in the interim -
pre-sod.

The corner between the garage and the south wing before...

...and after! Wow!
This is even before the new-and-improved mulch lay-down.
Landscape Rescue Man will put Plumbago
around that beautiful palm, eventually.

And here's the front of our Old Girl, before...

...and After! You can see the pathetic little heather plants I planted - God Bless my landscaper. He apparently thought they were worth saving. (I think he just didn't want to hurt my feelings.)

Here's another view of
the front of the house, before.
Notice the vegetation on either side of the front walkway?

Gone, Baby, Gone.

(And don't let the door hit'cha!)

Here's our poor yard, looking north. Landscape Rescue Man's first question to me was a pointed, "So - we'll be sodding this?"

(Now that I think of it - it was probably more of a declarative statement.)

And now...
my beautiful trees are getting
happier and happier!
This is looking north on the
east side of the house:
bad sod -
tangled vegetation along the fence -
rotting vegetation along the garage -
just a Big Fat Mess, any way you slice it.
And here they are, Everyone:
My Angels of Mercy,
slogging their way through the Jungle that is our backyard.
This view is looking south
on the east side
of the house
(so the pool is
behind you in this picture).

Keep singin' Anita, June, and Ruth! We're not done yet!
